The Certificate in Business Accounting is the gateway to become a CIMA Certified Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA)

The Certificate in Business Accounting is open to anyone, regardless of your education, background or experience. It’ll help you discover your true business potential, teaching core business and finance skills beyond simple accounting.

The Certificate in Business Accounting covers four subjects: 

  1. Fundamentals of Business Economics (BA1)
  2. Fundamentals of Management Accounting (BA2) 
  3. Fundamentals of Financial Accounting (BA3)
  4. Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law (BA4)

The exams are for 120 minutes and are in OTQ (objective test question) format.

Objective Tests are available on demand and are computer marked, so as soon as you have completed your Objective Test, you will receive a provisional exam result of either ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ at the Pearson VUE assessment centre. This result will be ratified in your profile within 48 hours.

The four subject examinations may be taken in any order and in any combination, meaning they can be studied either sequentially or concurrently. 

Candidates may sit the examinations at any time of year

On successful completion of the four subject examinations, candidates are awarded the Certificate in Business Accounting.

Assessment strategy

There will be a, comprising 60 compulsory objective test questions. Short scenarios may be given to which one or more objective test questions relate.

Syllabus weightings

Within a syllabus subject, a percentage weighting is shown against each topic. It is important to study all areas, as all syllabus topics will be examined.
